Notes

Opening and General Updates

Mertic reviewed the antitrust policy and introduced the meeting agenda.

Mertic reviewed the TAC and SIG review calendars. Nico Rikken from the OSPO SIG shared that the open-source benefits model report is currently about 80% complete.

Mertic provided project pipeline updates. He noted several projects (ReLife, RAVEN, and EDDIE) are currently in the last stages of the onboarding process. He mentioned EnerGNN was recently approved and Omega Prime has fallen out of the onboarding process due to an unresponsive submitter.

Security Audit Prioritization #408

Mertic shared CoMPAS, Power Grid Model, and OpenSTEF are moving forward, the audits. He shared we are awaiting confirmation from Shapeshifter to confirm if they are interested in participating in the security threat model assessment. The TAC suggested Flex Measures as a strong candidate to encourage adoption.

Annual Review Reformat #798

Mertic reviewed the proposed adjustments to the annual review template to save time during TAC meetings. Mertic detailed the following process:

  • Projects will now be allotted 15 minutes for a high-level overview and Q&A
  • Presentation decks must be shared with the TAC at least one week in advance.
  • Requests to move up a lifecycle stage must also be communicated a week in advance to allocate appropriate time.

The TAC agreed to these changes and Ortiz stated she would follow with a formal LFX vote. She will pilot the new process with CoMPAS and Grid2OP in the next meeting.

Annual Review: OpenDSM #7

Travis Sikes presented the OpenDSM annual review. He stated the project’s current** **release is v1.2.7. Sikes reported the project has seen heavy adoption and integration.

Sikes provide the following updates:

  • Technical Updates: * Successfully rolled out a new hourly model that includes a solar irradiance covariate to accurately measure the impact of solar panels on buildings.
    • Added adaptive downweighting of outliers.
    • The model is now 5x faster, which is critical for users running it across millions of households.
  • Community & Governance: The working group (which peaked at ~50 attendees) is currently on hiatus after the heavy lift of the new model, though the project itself is active. A new consolidated website (opendsm.energy) has been launched for documentation and history.
  • Lifecycle Progression: OpenDSM meets most criteria for “Early Adoption” but still needs to formalize a Growth Plan and finalize the OpenSSF Best Practices Badge (currently at 87% silver).

Annual Review: SOGNO #75

The SOGNO annual review will be rescheduled due to a conflict with the presenter.

Marketing and PR Updates

Dan Brown shared marketing and PR updates. Brown encouraged projects to sign up to host webinars. Brown announced in-person meetups include Power Grid Model, SEAPATH, and Operator Fabric.

Brown said a newly published TenneT case study has been highly successful and engaging and shared that blog recaps of videos from the last Summit and FOSDEM are ongoing. Brown also announced new project page templates are rolling out on lfenergy.org.

He provided an update on the LF Energy Summit (Berlin, Sept) and said the Call for Proposals (CFP) closes May 25 with no extensions granted. He notified the TAC that the space for project meetups/workshops is extremely limited, so interested projects must reach out immediately.
