Opening and General Updates

John Mertic called the meeting to order and Yarille Ortiz recorded the minutes.

TAC Chair/Vice Chair Election Update

Mertic noted that Jonas van den Bogaard is stepping back from the TAC Vice Chair role to take the Governing Board seat for Alliander, and Antonello Monti has agreed to remain as TAC Chair for another year. Nico Rikken and Boris Dolley were both nominated for the Vice Chair position. Mertic said there will be an offline LFX election for the voting members to decide the Vice Chair.

Speakers from other LF projects on community building (#350)

Mertic issued a final call for speakers from other LF projects regarding community building, noting the issue will be closed by the end of September if there is no further interest.

EU Cyber Resilience Act #895

Mertic provided an overview of the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), which establishes mandatory cybersecurity reporting requirements for products with digital elements on the EU market. Mertic explained that LF’s project-hosting legal entities will act as the CRA stewards and handle the regulatory reporting]. He said Projects must add a CRA stewardship statement to their SECURITY.md file and immediately escalate actively exploited vulnerabilities or severe incidents to the LF steward’s CRA contact so they can meet the 24-hour reporting deadline. Mertic advised the TAC to be on the lookout for an email with more information.

OneNet Framework Review/Discussion #112

Vincenzo Croce presented the OneNet Dataspace project, designed to provide a secure, decentralized data-sharing infrastructure. Croce clarified that the OneNet connector will be open-sourced, and the middleware will also be included in the LF Energy project submission. Apostolos Kapetanios clarified that the service utilizes a dynamic attribute provisioning service via the middleware, rather than functioning strictly as a distributed application (dApp).

The presentation was followed by an in-depth discussion where TAC members sought clarifications on the project’s scope, licensing, and technical specifics. Mertic suggested moving the remaining technical questions to the GitHub issue and bringing the project back to the next TAC meeting for further review.

Annual Review- OperatorFabric #71

Frédéric Didier presented the annual review for OperatorFabric, noting the project remains in the Early Adoption stage and centralizes real-time business events in control rooms. Didier highlighted key achievements over the past year, including enhancements to custom screens and email features. He stated that no new features are planned for the upcoming year; the focus will solely be on maintenance, bug fixes, and upgrading dependencies for cybersecurity reasons.

Annual Review- Battery Data Alliance #57

Gabe Hege presented the Battery Data Alliance (BDA) annual review, sharing that the project aims to unify battery data handling. Hege highlighted major achievements, including Microsoft donating a dataset in the Battery Data Format (BDF), native support from PyPro, and over 18,000 dataset downloads. Hege formally requested that the project be advanced from Sandbox to Incubation status. The TAC raised no concerns, and Mertic confirmed that an offline LFX vote would be initiated for the advancement.

Annual Review- Power Stability Wide Area Monitoring Protection (p-SWAMP) #585

Kjell Petter Myhren and Thomas Nilsson presented the annual review for p-SWAMP, a four-year research initiative focused on building a new Human Machine Interface (HMI) for energy grid operations. Myhren stated that the project is structured across multiple work packages, including HMI development, linear state estimation, and AI for anomaly detection. The team showcased a brief look at the web-based client and announced that a hands-on workshop would take place at the upcoming LF Energy Summit.

Marketing and PR Updates

Dan Brown provided marketing updates, announcing upcoming webinars for VAREN in late October, EnerGNN in mid-November, and OpenGridFM in early December.

Brown shared that the redesigned LFenergy.org website will launch before the LF Energy Summit, which has reached a record 420 registrations. He also highlighted the upcoming releases of a cost-benefit analysis research report and an EU Tech Sovereignty position paper.

Closing and Next Meeting

Mertic reminded TAC voting members of the joint Board and TAC in-person meeting on Monday, September 14 in Berlin and announced the next meeting of the LF Energy TAC is scheduled for October 13, 2026, at 5:00 pm Central European Time
