Notes
Opening and General Updates
Yarille Ortiz called the meeting to order. Ortiz announced some changes with the TAC Voting Members, noting that with GXF moving to Emeritus status, Maarten Mulder is no longer a voting member on the TAC, and that the Foundation is awaiting information regarding a new Google representative.
Project Pipeline
Ortiz provided an update on the project pipeline, noting the TwinREV project is in review before proceeding with onboarding, and the EDDIE project is working to clear up trademark issues.
TAC Vice Chair Election Update
Ortiz announced that the TAC Vice Chair election resulted in a tie between Nico Rikken and Boris Dolley, and that following a collaborative transition plan, Dolley will assume the Vice Chair role for the current term while Rikken integrates into TAC planning. Jonas van den Bogaard announced that Rikken will officially take over as the TAC representative from Alliander as van den Bogaard transitions to a Board role.
Project AI Guidelines #864
van den Bogaard presented new AI assistant contribution guidelines implemented within the OpenSTEF project. He explained the guidelines require that AI tools be used transparently and that contributors remain fully responsible for the code’s quality and alignment with project guidelines. Klaartje De Schepper noted that AI assistance was instrumental in the URPX project and expressed interest in standardizing these harnessing instructions across LF Energy projects.
TAC Chair/Vice Chair Election Update
Mertic noted that Jonas van den Bogaard is stepping back from the TAC Vice Chair role to take the Governing Board seat for Alliander, and Antonello Monti has agreed to remain as TAC Chair for another year. Nico Rikken and Boris Dolley were both nominated for the Vice Chair position. Mertic said there will be an offline LFX election for the voting members to decide the Vice Chair.
OneNet Framework Review/Discussion #112
Antonello Monti reviewed the OneNet Framework project, clarifying that its scope has been narrowed to focus specifically on the connector and middleware components to build the OneNet architecture. Monti confirmed the project is ready for official onboarding once the repository migration is complete. The TAC agreed to move forward with a formal vote after updates are made to the original project proposal in GitHub to reflect the revised scope.
Annual Review- SOGNO #75
Monti presented the annual review for SOGNO, highlighting the platform’s growth and the development of new services like Routevolt and Pyvolt, which have been tested in real-world grid environments in Rome. He noted a strategic architectural shift toward using Kafka as the main data bus, which will facilitate the integration of various SOGNO services and support transmission grid projects like InterSCADA.
Monti stated that an upcoming OpenAI Flex contract will deploy SOGNO in production environments in Vienna, Austria, and South America, shifting the platform from pure research to active field implementation with AI-driven services. Monti highlighted that the project is working toward achieving the OpenSSF Silver badge and requested assistance with the remaining requirements.
Annual Review- Utility Rate Plan Exchange (URPX) #600
Klaartje De Schepper presented the Utility Rate Plan Exchange (URPX) annual review, officially announcing the public launch of the URPX semantic standard and its website. De Schepper highlighted the project’s transition to W3C and CDLA-Permissive licenses, the implementation of automated publication workflows, and requested guidance on progressing the project from Sandbox to Incubation status.
Don Jackson detailed his collaborative work using URPX to model California electric utility tariffs for grid coordination, noting he recently published a repository containing 70 tariff schedules from major California utilities. De Schepper noted the project is seeking a working group co-chair and requested LF Energy mentorship support for CI setup and fulfilling OpenSSF badge criteria.
Marketing and PR Updates
Ortiz provided marketing updates on behalf of Dan Brown, announcing Marco Möller as the new Marketing Advisory Committee Chair following a Governing Board vote. Ortiz showed the launch of the refreshed LF Energy website and shared that new standardized slide templates are being rolled out for project and TAC materials.
Ortiz noted that the LF Energy Summit received 493 registrations, and attendee feedback regarding venue logistics and scheduling will be utilized for planning the 2027 event. Ortiz also highlighted the new social listening feature available within the LFX Insights dashboard, which aggregates project mentions from social platforms.
Closing and Next Meeting
Ortiz announced that the next LF Energy TAC meeting is scheduled for November 10, 2026, and will include annual reviews for GEISA, the AI SIG, and the OSPO SIG.
